To 3D or Not to 3D

So, football in 3D, movies in 3D and maybe even soaps in 3D! With all this going on do you think that just after we have bought our 50inch LED TVs with its huge refresh rates, back lighting, wall washes to enhance our tv viewing and not forgetting the new 4th colour, yellow!
With all this crystal clarity and the highest definition they tease us with bringing this up or indeed out in to the 3rd dimension.
What we could see is the 'tomorrow us' sat in our home wearing a pair of unattractive glasses watching mad Hollywood directors telling their actors to wiggle long stuff at the camera like a child teasing its first inquisitive hamster with a pencil.
Now do we make sure we have enough glasses to go round all our guests as they fight for the 2ft square directly in front of the TV to get the best viewing angle to watch the footie, as you can guarantee that the system they have at home is not as good as ours and their glasses wont work with our high end version so we have to fork out for more glasses which will be eaten by our dog or smeared in jam by our kids. And there is always one guest that has to watch the blurry version because the glasses wont fit over their normal glasses. .etc...etc...
Not forgetting the fact all this crystal clarity the 3D works on the principal that the image is split in to 2 and the glasses, either by polarizing or shutters allows each eye to see a slightly different angle that give you the stereoscopic or parallax effect which fools your brain in thinking its a 3D image, so your High Definition is halved.
So do i have a negative view on all things that could pop out from your tellybox?
The answer... No.
3D enhances most viewing experiences, well for me anyway, and i cant wait until the people making the content get over the 'me first! me first!' approach and really learn how to use it to good effect. Which I have started to see with the likes of Avatar which didn't over do the cliche throwing things at the viewer too much and after a while I forgot that the film was in 3D but like all unnoticed special effects guys out there we have to deal with the accolade of 'wow I didn't even notice there was any special effects in it' we know we have done a good job.
For complete immersion I think 3D TV is a good step forward, however I don't think its going to be to every ones taste, I don't think I'm going to rush out and buy one, though if any manufactures want to prove to me how good they are feel free to email me and we will post the review.
I sometimes find 3D is like looking in to an old shoe box theater rather than the world coming into our living room and it often leaves me wondering whats around the corner the same way I feel about the 3D TV revolution.
So let us know if you are planning to buy, not going to buy or if you HAVE a 3D TV. Which system would you go for and what you would like to see on it.
Whats the coolest TV programme you would sit down for, and be prepared to don the specks of multidimensional viewing to experience in full thrilling 3DTV!!!???!!!
